HR Operations Generalist

Full-time position in Irvine, California.

Senior to Principal

The mission of Notorious Studios is to bring incredible new gaming experiences to players. In order to achieve that mission, we know that we must have a stellar team and an organizational structure that unlocks that team's creative potential to its maximum. Our belief is that in order to best achieve those goals we must innovate and rethink the way in which the "game studio" is structured and run. We're seeking someone who shares that vision to join us and spearhead that endeavor.


The ideal candidate for us is someone who has a passion for organizational design, first-principle thinking and enjoys helping build and grow teams of creatives. As an early-stage start-up, you'll wear many different hats and have the opportunity to learn and grow in a high-trust and inclusive environment.


What project you'd be working on


We're currently building a new core fantasy RPG game for PC/Console using Unreal 5. Elements of this project include open worlds, core RPG fantasy theme, PvPvE, third-person action-based combat, player stories, and engaging systems. It's still very early and anything can change, which you can be a part of.

Responsibilities


  • Maintain and be the vision holder of our operational functions including - recruiting, performance management, decision making, compensation & incentives, training & coaching, and more.

  • Manage contracts and relations with outside partners, vendors, accounting

  • Manage HR functions like recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and compliance

  • Mentor and motivate teams to achieve productivity and engagement

  • Work with leadership to understand short-term and long-term goals and how best to achieve them

  • Build a culture of growth, organizing training and coaching for the studio

  • Report on operational performance and build strategies on how to improve

  • Organize team culture-building events and manage small Company details like swag or even break room snacks


Required Qualifications


  • 2+ Years of Experience in Game Development

  • 2+ Years of Experience working in HR or Operations role

  • Excellent multitasking ability - able to shift between multiple different roles and responsibilities, with the willingness to take charge of new roles with no experience

  • Familiarity with all business functions including HR and finance

  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills

  • Good with numbers and financial planning


Ideally, you have (but not required):


  • Experience as a hiring manager

  • Leadership or management experience

  • Experience in a startup or early-stage company

  • Stakeholder management and rapport-building skills

  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new software and 3rd party solutions
