UI Artist

Midlevel to Senior

As a UI Artist at Notorious, you will play a pivotal role in defining the aesthetic and tactile feel of our game interfaces. Your expertise will turn a UI design in figma into reality. bringing to life the essential elements that interact directly with the player, such as icons, menus, and interactive game elements.


In this role, you will apply your artistic skills and technical knowledge to create visually compelling assets and materials that enhance the player's experience. You will craft everything from textured surfaces that mimic real-world materials to fantastical elements that fit within our game's unique universe. Being part of Notorious's small but growing team offers a unique opportunity to significantly shape what we believe will be the next standout PvPvE Extraction RPG for an underserved audience.


What project you'd be working on


We're currently building a new core fantasy RPG game for PC/Console using Unreal 5. Elements of this project include open worlds, core RPG fantasy theme, PvPvE, third-person action-based combat, player stories, and engaging systems. It's still very early and anything can change, which you can be a part of.

Responsibilities


  • Asset Creation: Design and create UI art assets that align with our established visual identity, including icons, menus, and HUD elements.

  • Concept Development: Collaborate with designers to conceptualize and iterate on UI elements that are both visually engaging and functionally intuitive.

  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with designers, engineers, and technical artists to ensure seamless integration of UI elements into the game.

  • Documentation and Style Guides: Develop and maintain comprehensive style guides and documentation for UI art to ensure consistency across the project.

  • Animation: Create UI animations and transitions that bring dynamic elements to life within the game.

  • User-Centric Design: Ensure that all UI assets contribute to an intuitive and enjoyable player experience.


Required Qualifications


  • Expertise in Unreal Engine (4 or 5) with experience using UMG UI Designer

  • Proven ability to create AAA-quality UI art assets, including icons, HUD elements, and animations, using Adobe Suite and Figma, from concept to implementation

  • Experience with motion design and creating interactive elements within UI/UX contexts

  • Ability to work closely with developers to implement UI assets into the engine using Unreal Blueprints

  • Strong knowledge of user-centered design principles and how to apply them to create intuitive game interfaces

  • Experience developing and maintaining visual style guides for UI design

  • A portfolio showcasing your best UI design and animation work


Ideally, you have (but not required):


  • Experience with both stylized and realistic art styles

  • Experience doing UI/UX Design

  • Familiarity with creating or editing custom Materials (Shaders)
